COMMON PROBLEMS

This page gives you an idea of common problems your car may be facing at some point.  Most of these problems are easily overcome with regular servicing and we can fix these and many other issues easily.

01

STARTER MOTOR

Starter motors are usually quite  tough and robust, but they do fail eventually. Getting your car serviced regularly will make sure any potential faults should get picked up before they cause you any problems.

02

FUEL PROBLEMS

If you've put the wrong fuel in your engine - you are not alone.  The AA says that this happens to more than 150,000 drivers every year.  Just don’t start your engine.

03

ENGINE REPAIRS

Common issues with engines can relate to spark plugs (or glow plugs on diesel cars) which can break or wear out, or HT leads (the wires on top of the plugs which carry high voltage to the plugs), become less effective with age and this can make it difficult to start your car. Damp-repellant sprays like WD-40 can help.  Come and get us to check over the ignition system if you're having starting problems.

04

CLUTCH REPAIRS

The clutch cable gets a lot of use.  If it breaks, it can be a serious problem. It’s best to get it checked if you notice any change to the way the clutch feels when you press the pedal.

05

BRAKE REPAIRS

Front brakes are made up of pads and discs, which can both wear over time. If you feel like you have to push your brakes repeatedly or they do not to slow the car quickly enough, this is a sign that your brakes need attention.
